One of the largest fennel processing plants in Europe belongs to Assomech. It is located in the Italian plant of Montescaglioso (Matera), of the company O.P. Primo Sole.

"The line has been designed to optimize the processing of fennel and can be controlled remotely. There are three fundamental steps for an excellent yield: hourly productivity, water saving with a filtering and recycling system and the quality of the sized product, divided into ten different gauges to best meet the market demands of the various customers," explained sales manager Peter Calisesi.

Vegetable sizing takes place through dedicated electronics.

"It is possible to add accessories to extend the functionality of the machine. The electronics, through software tools, is simple and immediate to use. The whole working process is managed by an electric panel with PLC and touch-screen."

All the flows are managed by inverters that increase and decrease the processing capacities depending on the work demand and the quality of the product to be processed. The plant was built according to the Industry 4.0 plan.

“All the design is carried out by us after on-site visits, because a processing line must fit the structure in which it will be installed. If everything starts with a made-to-measure project, the customer will achieve significant efficiency gains," concluded Calisesi.
