Sometimes a small start can make a big difference in life. A similar effort was made 12 years ago by a farmer from Rajkot, whose fruits are being enjoyed by his son and the owner of ‘Nirav Food Machine’.

Since childhood, Rasikbhai Rangani of Jugadu mind used to do farming in his ancestral fields. He used to take care of farming work with his brother and also used to make some small things.

During that time foreign automatic machines were selling a lot in the market, but they were very expensive in India. Rasikbhai noticed that many people did not have the money to buy these, so he decided to make a cheap dough kneading machine from Jugaad. He was supported in this work by his cousin Chandubhai who was already doing casting work in Rajkot.

His machine was very much liked by the nearby people and machine dealers and later this business became his ‘Nirav Food Machine’. Today Rasikbhai may not be in this world, but the dough kneading machine made by him is the best selling product of his company till date. Rasikbhai’s younger son Nirav Rangani says, “Before joining agriculture, my father and his elder brother used to work as refrigerators. But he started farming to take care of the ancestral farms. Since he had a good knowledge of casting, so after the birth of us brothers and sisters, he felt that he should use this knowledge to do some other business as well. With this thought in mind, my father started the work of making machines. There my elder father took over farming. In the year 2009, when my father made this machine, only in Indore and Coimbatore in India such machines were made, which were also very expensive. So the machine made by my father soon became very popular in Gujarat.

During that time Rasikbhai started selling machines from the village itself through other dealers. His elder son Kalpesh supported him and took over the marketing work. Rasikbhai was a farmer, so he did not have much business idea, but had an idea that such machines would be of great use to the people in the coming times.

Kalpesh says, “At that time only four to five machines a month were sold; But my father had faith in this work and he also kept giving us ideas to make different types of machines.

However, Rasikbhai passed away shortly after the launch of the Nirav Food Machine. Nirav told that only a year later, Rasikbhai died in an accident while making the machine.

It was a difficult time for the family; But even after that his machine remained popular among the people.

This was the reason why his sons continued to sell the machine made by his father and also his work.

Kalpesh and his brother Hitesh were studying in Rajkot, but to pursue business, they decided to leave their studies midway and join work. Thereafter, he built a spice mixing machine and set up a small manufacturing setup in Rajkot itself.

Two years later, Kalpesh started a machine making business on a large scale under the name of his youngest brother, Nirav. Now he started selling his own made machines all over Gujarat.

From the very beginning, his aim was to make small-sized, affordable machines so that the work of small businessmen associated with the food business could be easier.

Nirav explains, “We have the patent to make India’s first garlic peeling machine. When our company made this machine, then in India such machines were procured from outside.”

These days the best selling products of ‘Neerav Food Machine’ are Dough Kneading Machine and Garlic Peeling Machine made by Rasikbhai. Along with this, his roti making machine is also sold abroad.

They have registered patents for about 35 to 40 machines, which come in a variety of sizes and models.

Rangani Brothers is making annual turnover of more than 20 million from this company recently. Through his company, he tries to make such products, which can make the work of common man or small businessmen easier, because this was also his father’s dream.
