Konami Announces Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection For Switch | Nintendo Life

2022-08-20 03:09:42 By : Ms. Jennifer Wu

Cowabunga, dude! Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo's classic games are returning in one big collection for the Nintendo Switch and multiple other platforms this year.

Developed by Digital Eclipse, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection will contain 13 "radical classics" from Konami's entire archive of retro TMNT games - across the 8-bit, 16-bit and arcade generations. There'll also be Japanese versions included and online support in select titles.

Here's the full line-up of games included:

• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade) • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (Arcade) • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES) • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game (NES) • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project (NES) • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (NES) • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time (Super Nintendo) • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Super Nintendo) • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist (Sega Genesis) • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters (Sega Genesis) • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fall of The Foot Clan (Game Boy) • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Back From The Sewers (Game Boy) • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: Radical Rescue (Game Boy)

*11 Japanese regional versions total -No Japanese versions released for TMNT (Arcade) and TMNT: Tournament Fighters (NES) **Titles with online functionality -TMNT (Arcade), TMNT: Turtles in Time (Arcade), TMNT: The Hyperstone Heist, TMNT Tournament Fighters (Super Nintendo)

This collection will be available in both physical and digital form for $39.99 USD or your regional equivalent. It also contains quality-of-life features - saves, rewind, button mapping. Local couch co-op is also included in supported games and there'll be a digital game guide for each title to assist players.

Here's a bit more about TMNT and what else you can expect from the Cowabunga Collection:

"The games are based on the characters and themes of the 80's children's cartoon and comic book series, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles often taking place in a fictionalized New York City, around the sewers, inside futuristic enemy bases and even across time itself! In collaboration with Nickelodeon, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection will also include loads of extras using imagery from the original cartoons, comics and other historic TMNT media content in a compiled Museum connecting the franchise across the various mediums. Additionally, never-before-seen development art, sketches and game design material will also be included."

Excited for this one? Leave a comment down below.

When he’s not paying off a loan to Tom Nook, Liam likes to report on the latest Nintendo news and admire his library of video games. His favourite Nintendo character used to be a guitar-playing dog, but nowadays he prefers to hang out with Judd the cat.

Will buy in a sale. I hold little attachment to these games but I did have SNES Tournament Fighters which I had fun with.

Glad this is going multiplat...I grew up with some of these games. lol

HOLY COW!!!! Am I dreaming here??? Somebody pinch me!! I’m speechless!! DAY ONE!!!! And physical versions too?!? Just wow!

good news for all you Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles lovers

A Tmnt Collection in with the entire 8-16-arcade collection (that includes both Turtles in time Snes AND Arcade? You know these two particular games any TMNT fan has been begging at the knees for since the inception of the Wii's Virtual Console.)

And a not limited physical release?

Good one, Nintendo Life. That was a good April fools prank.

This isn’t even a day one! This is a right now! I’m putting on my coat and I’m going to find a copy of this right now!

All those games, online play, japanese and english versions... AND physical release? Shall be pre-ordering this!!!

I never played time, and I heard it was great, might pick this up at some point.

Saw the PS announcement and automatically feared a Disney Afternoon Collection scenario, or having to hold my breath for a Switch announcement. To have it confirmed straight away means I can unclench and wait for that physical pre-order.

So, so happy. Does make Shredder's Revenge somewhat superfluous, but I will get both I'm sure. Probably just means I can wait for the inevitable 'Anniversary Edition' with DLC (looking at you SoR4/Dotemu) and enjoy the lovely retro goodness in the meantime.

Konami: Now don't ever ask us for anything again!

Fan: Well you could do a Metal Gear Collec....

Konami: LALALA I'M NOT LISTENING LALALA!

What a time to be alive. Couldn’t be happier.

I only played the NES game and SNES fighting game, but that alone makes me know this is worth it. My Switch is ready.

Now this is a pretty cool announcement. Not sure yet if I'll give it a purchase but I'll definitely keep an eye out!

(cue picture of 40 year old bearded guy running)

I'm really excited to pick these games up. i'm pretty sure i've play the arcade game before when i was really young (i know i did for The Simpsons Arcade as well.) will definitely get them on release. hopefully will get The Simpsons Arcade as well? Please Konami, FOX and Disney?

Holy jeebus! It's about time! I've been waiting for this since the Wii! This is a Day 1 purchase! I always wanted to play HyperStone Heist and Manhattan Project! Now I'll finally get the chance!

I was hoping at least Turtles in Time got ported, so I'll definitely buy the collection with that and all the other games.

Looking forward to the new game also.

Totally Radical Dude. With this and Shredder's Revenge it is a good year to be an 80's Turtles fan!

So happy to have Turtles in Time and Tournament Fighters on Switch!

I still remember for TMNT 2 it's Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start. A variation on the ol' Konami code.

@Broosh That first NES game was very difficult! I could never finish it.

I'm just hoping they are ALL on the cartridge!

Very nice collection. Good job, Konami. You deserve a Scooby Snack. Hopefully these are good translations/ports. This isn't a day one purchase though. Will wait to see what reviews say about the emulation.

Day one physical! TMNT 3 The Manhattan Project is one of my absolute favorite games so to play this (legally) on new hardware is great!

Holy crap I did not see this coming, day one buy for sure. This along with Shredder's Revenge will be fantastic. This year will be the Year of the Ninja Turtles for me.

YES! This is THE ONLY RERELEASE OF TURTLES IN TIME*! It's never left the SNES/arcade! Some of the NES games kinda suck but all of the arcade games? Turtles in Time, Hyperstone heist

Thank you Konami, please leave the pachinko machines alone and start making videogames again.

(A bundle of this and shredder's revenge would be awesome)

*nope i'm stupid, thanks @BulbasaurusRex and @LinktotheFuture. However, this is still is the only rerelease on a modern platform.

@Neoicelord I had a turtle van and the turtle lair and that plastic case specifically for ninja turtles each with their own slot. IN THE 80's

Ill assume like the other arcade Konami games that this means they will all independently release on Hamster Arcade Archives... If so TMNT and TURTLES IN TIME will be my top two games of 2022. Then again RAIDEN was my top game of 2021.

Gnarly, dude! I watched TMNT on Paramount Plus as a celebration. Lol

I NEED this collection ASAP! I do find it odd though that the SNES version of Turtles in Time won’t have online. Now I have the problem of whether to get the digital or physical version of this collection lol.

@Tandy255 Same! And yet...I played it so much.

@Mikmoomamimocki Almost none of these games have ever left their home system. In fact, I think Arcade and TMNT1 are the only two that have ever seen a re-release.

My toe! My toe! My toe! Um, I mean my wallet! My wallet! My wallet!

Cant wait to get this

Turtles in Time was my first SNES game aside from Super Mario World. I played it some but, being 7 or 8 years old and with the way games were designed in that era, I didn’t get very far. I certainly have much more of an attachment to Super Mario World, but maybe on a good sale it would be worth checking this out for Turtles in Time.

Though I still wish we could get a remaster of Turtles in time that takes the arcade, genesis, and snes games and makes them into one super game for four players.

Now this is how you make a collection: include every game available, add some quality of life features and respect the history of the franchise with this: "The Cowabunga Collection will also include loads of extras using imagery from the original cartoons, comics and other historic TMNT media content in a compiled Museum connecting the franchise across the various mediums. Additionally, never-before-seen development art, sketches and game design material will also be included."

Both this and Sheedder's Revenge will be day one for me! Awesome!!

Day one for me. I remember months ago saying that if they ever created a retro TMNT Compilation it should be titled 'The Cowabunga Collection' lol

Too bad Sony's Gate Keeping the Disney Afternoon Collection & Castlevania: Requiem SOTN & ROB, because I'd rather have those on Switch as well. Retro lovers from way back when have a handful of games to look forward to this year>

TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection Capcom Fighting Collection Wonderboy Collection Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Pacman Museum+ TMNT: Shredder's Revenge Pocky & Rocky Reshrined Dragon Quest 2D HD Remake Snow Bros. Remaster Final Vendetta River City Girls 2 etc

Ya know, part of me wanted to go physical with Switch games, but Limited Run and the insane prices are a complete joke. $220 for a copy of either Curse of the Moon or Blazing Chrome? These are contemporary modern videogames for jeebs sake, not old NES games...They should of never of been restricted to being just a digital downloadable game in the first place.

Collecting for the switch is too messy and expensive, with so many 'hit' digital only titles that were never meant to go physical in the first place is going to lead to half of my collection being mostly digital & maybe 40 percent, if that, physical. Not interested in forking over hundreds and hundreds of dollars for limited Run indie games either. Ugh, it's an all digital non tangible switch wonderland for yours truly. lol

Day One, but I’ll probably get it on PSN.

Holy cowabunga, that's a lot of turtles.

@mauhlin12 Actually, it's "My toes! My toes!"

I'll be getting this along with the Pacman collection and the Darkstalkers collection this year.

Kinda makes me wish for the Gamecube games collection as well based on the 2000s series. Those games weren't perfect, but I have a lot of fond memories playing them with my friend as a kid.

***** yeah physical! Won't have to wait 10 years for LRG!!!

This is literally everything I have wanted from a TMNT collection, right down to the name itself. These games were such a huge part of my childhood and I can’t wait to own them all in one collection.

This is Day 1 for me. Konami, please don’t screw this up. Master the emulation, do your part to make sure the online multiplayer works well… and if you wanna throw in a coupon for pizza for old time’s sake, I won’t complain.

I keep throwing my wallet into my iPad, but nothing is happening!

Whaaa, my mind is blown.

I’ve had little to no interest in TMNT since I was about five, but a physical compilation with Game Boy games?! Yes, please!

While I’m at it, I might as well give the other games a try as well.

I honestly think this may be the happiest day of my adult life!

@joey302 My feelings exactly! Dream come true! I can't believe they're doing this...

OMFG.. Was 100% convinced this would never happen(because of the licensing issues). I am very happy to have been wrong.

Take this '80s Kid's money!!

Oh hell yeah! Man what a great time to be a turtle fan.

I never thought I'd see a collection this complete for 90s Turtles games. Thats incredible. Physical version just went to #1 on my "must buy" list. Day one, no question.

I wish it had the Turtles in Time remaster. I missed out on that on the Xbox 360 and have been regretting not buying it ever since.

@Mikmoomamimocki Actually, Turtles In Time is unlockable in TMNT 3: Mutant Nightmare. The 1st Arcade Game is unlockable in TMNT 2: Battle Nexus.

I watched State of Play and as this glorious trailer began I whispered to myself "Thank you, Konami. It's about time."

***checks date to ensure it's not April 1***

TMNT for NES is pretty much the original Dark Souls.

The fact they were kind enough to give us Radical Rescue on top of all that amazingness just blows me away. I hope they add online play to more of the games. Day one purchase for me! This is my childhood in half shell!

The only thing better Konami can do now is bring back Kojima and give us lots of Metal Gear. Oh and let Collectorvision do the new Goemon game that they’re wanting to do. Lol

I have so many memories playing Turtles in Time on Snes. Definitely gonna pick this up

Totally Tubular man! Day One, and ordering 2x large pepperoni pizzas that day as well!

Now if we can all just convince Konami to port the Castlevania DS collection as well as SotN to Switch….

(I’d also whole heartedly welcome an MGS1/2/3/4/5 + Peace Walker collection, MGS Acid Collection, and Silent Hill collection…. Or, you know, a new MGS or MGS ACID for switch would be awesome as well….)

The inclusion of both TMNT Arcade games alone makes it worth the purchase price.

Yes, dudes and dudettes, Major League Butt-kicking is back in town.

Now we can all rewind until we get past that one sewer jump part in TMNT (NES).

Cool, I am glad so many companies are embracing collections this gen.

No way this doesn't sell best on Switch. It's a clear no brainer

I'm seriously going to cry tears of joy. I've wanted something even remotely this awesome FOR YEARS!!!!!!!!!

COWABUNGA!!!! Cannot wait for this

If you've ever missed out on playing a game, buy a Switch. The game will turn up there eventually.

Totally righteous news! Is Konami actually doing this?!

My heart did a little happy dance just now 😆 My wallet, not so much 😓

@MasterGraveheart The emulation for the 3 Castlevania Anniversary collections is top notch.

There's a lot of quality games in there. The Genesis and SNES versions of Tournament Fighters are totally different, and both good! This is a nice set for sure.

This is totally radical man, to be able to play TMNT: Turtles In Time and TMNT: Tournament Fighters again is awesome, everything else is a nice added bonus. I'm definitely going to be buying this collection when it comes out, as an '80s kid I was obsessed with all things Ninja Turtles.

I hope the emulation is good. I haven't played Manhattan Project in years. Lost my cartridge a long time ago.

I still have all my original cartridges, minus the fighters. (Never played those.) But I'm STILL buying this day one, to have the arcade versions and everything on a single cartridge. Like everyone else I had to check to make sure it wasn't April 1st.

@faint The Castlevania & Contra Anniversary Collections are much better than the Sega Genesis Classics and Mega Man Legacy 1&2 Collections in terms of latency. The Sega Genesis Classics and both MM Legacy collections were battered with high input lag, with the exception of Mega Man 9 & 10 since those two were actual digital releases thrown in the collection and weren't emulations. they control perfectly.

@Wilforce Don't worry that one was garbage anyways, hit detection was way off. The graphics were very ugly, the game was not challenging, and there was nothing new added other than the remake graphics and wonky gameplay.

Is it out yet????? How about now? ...now?

First day buy from me, Konami, you're milking this franchises dry with style, BRAVO!!

Wow, that's quite a collection. Might just have to pick this up.

@Degenerate_Mii Ashame? Nickelodeon is the best thing ever to happen to the TMNT property in a long time, it's because of Nickelodeon that we got these games. Remember Nickelodeon is not a videogame company, they are a network company. Network company if they got the rights to an IP they could work with other partners to get products made for consumers, that means if Nickelodeon wants they could work with Konami, UbiSoft, Activision, and even Warner Bros. to get TMNT to as many platform as possible.

This is not the same if game company like UbiSoft and Activision own the rights to TMNT cause if they own it they can't partner with other game devs to get rights to the classics, they could only make their own version or make their own game using the IPs. Thanks to Nick, we got TMNT in Injustice 2, we got TMNT in Nickelodeon Racer, we got TMNT in Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl, we got DOTEMU working on Shredder's Revenge, and we got this TMNT collection coming to all platforms. Network company like Nickelodeon could give the TMNT rights to any game dev they see fit in making a new TMNT game and that's a win for Ninja Turtles fans like us cause then there's variety in those games and not the same game every time.

@Rats That jump is just pure evil, and I hate to add salt to the wound because I didn’t find out until just a few years ago myself, but you can actually just walk right over it without jumping at all.

Yeah, going to agree with the general sentiments already expressed, day one easily, I adore the TMNT and a lot of these games.

@Angelic_Lapras_King Kojima: "My new game is a re-release of Metal Gear Solids 1-2-3-4, in a metaphorical sense. I don't have the franchise rights so every character is represented by a sentient piece of bread. Metal Gears are now large dogs. It's the games you loved for years but now as a tactical RPG mixed with city-builder mechanics. It's games you won't understand until you fondle that controller."

@Wilforce That thing was horrible. Be grateful you passed on that lousy crash grab. And just out of pure randomness yet game compilation related....where's my Splatterhouse collection!?

Grew up with the Turtles and most of you here probably aren't aware of this but once upon a time they used to be called Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles rather than Ninja Turtles here in Ireland and the U.K.

@GameOtaku also wanted to highlight Manhattan Project. One of the very best ones, and first time rerelease? Awesome stuff

Cowabunga! This news is totally tubular.

I never thought I'd say this, but thank you, Konami!

I don't even care about TMNT but this is a heck of a collection. I just wonder how this won't overshadow the new TMNT game (Shredder's Revenge) coming out.

@Degenerate_Mii Well you won't hear no complaint coming from me for this once of a life time chance to get every classic TMNT games ever made, some with online multiplay as well. I didn't even know the NES had a third TMNT beat em up game and I thought I play everything the NES had to offer back then.

I definitely want a copy of this. I can wait for a sale though. Looks like a perfect collection!

@WaveBoy I’m not sure why you brought Capcom collections into a conversation specifically about Konami collections.

I already own most of them, but the extra features (especially online play) still make it worth getting as far as I'm concerned.

@Mikmoomamimocki Actually, there have two previous re-releases of "Turtles in Time." There's the "Reshelled" remaster on PS3/X360, although we don't like to talk about that one. However, the arcade version of "Turtles in Time" is unlockable in the 3rd TMNT game for the GameCube.

@faint It is! I hope it keeps up.

@Degenerate_Mii Why? Nickelodeon gave us that awesome 2012 series, put some of the characters in "Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl," and now helped make this possible. I'd say they're doing a pretty good job with the license.

@Specter_of-the_OLED Technically, it didn't, since the first NES game isn't a beat 'em up.

However, you really missed out, as "TMNT III: The Manhattan Project" is one of the very best NES games ever made and even outshines "Hyperstone Heist" on the Genesis in some ways!

It's about damn time! I love the classic TMNT games.

Now we need a Hudson Soft Collection Konami

Looks like Konami wants to earn some quick money, and I'm all for it, day one for me!

What a time to be alive!

Konami might not be capable of developing great games anymore, but they're doing a bang-up job of partnering with competent developers for these retro collections.

Woah cowabunga dude! Now that's a collection! Getting this for sure dude!

Nice, although it's not really 11 games but multiple versions of fewer games.

Too many cool games so far this year. Chocobo GP, Mario Kart 8 DLC, Kirby, Lego Star Wars. Splatoon 3, Klonoa...... Gonna need another (even bigger) card case.

Day one. Never thought I’d see this happen.

The arcade games and the SNES version of tournament fighters sold me on this instantly. Hopefully this will be a day 1 purchase for me.

Not one single person who actually worked on these games will get money from this. Just emulate them.

Now Konami, since we’re plucking impossible dreams from my teenaged head, can you talk to Warner Bros about rereleasing SNES Batman TAS / Returns please? Also wouldn’t say no to Buster Busts Loose or Animaniacs either.

Ooh, Sparkster / Rocket Knight Adventures compilation please.

Dang, Konami killed it on the SNES…

Can we also have a complete gradius/nemesis collection too please.

Oh, and how about a Rebirth collection too.

This is a dream collection! Day -1!

I really can't believe that. TMNT2, 3 (both NES) and 4(SNES) was part of my childhood

That's a lot of Turtle Power!!

This is the most anticipated release for me this year. My dream will come true, I spent hundreds of hours playing some of these games back then.

and suddenly memories of playing the arcade version at Chuck-E-Cheese come flooding back to me 👀

I had to check to make sure it wasn't April 1st!

Please be physical in Europe, please be physical in Europe, please be physical in Europe, please be physical in Europe, please be physical in Europe, please be physical in Europe, please be physical in Europe, please be physical in Europe, please be physical in Europe, please be physical in Europe, please be physical in Europe, please be physical in Europe, please be physical in Europe, please be physical in Europe.

Of all the Konami collections I wanted, this is the one. However, due to licensing, I never thought it would be possible. I thought the new TMNT Shredder's Revenge was the closest we were going to get. Perhaps the fan reaction to that game is where the execs realized they were sitting on a gold mine. I don't care what kind of deal Konami had to agree to but I am so excited about this. Day one purchase for me.

Did you mean...Konami: "I'm not listening! LA-LI-LU-LE-LO!"

That is a seriously good collection, I think that’s every single Konami game and they even include the Japanese versions (which is good for TMNT2 on the NES as that’s my preferred version). I’ll be buying this day one for sure.

I think I have to cry, this is massive! Back From The Sewers was my most beloved Game Boy game as a kid

Amazing news……but those SNES Turtles In Time carts just plummeted in value!

This blew my mind!! What an amazing collection.

On top of this there is also shredders revenge this year...Cowabunga dude

AVGN: "You just walk over it....you just walk over it. Shredder's my @$$ and Splinter's my balls."

Awesome news, would buy this for Turtles in time on it's own, the rest is a great bonus.

I was waiting for this. Day one purchase. I like the sound of the museum content. TMNT has a rich history with the cartoon, films and toys. It was a craze. No wonder there were so many games.

Amazing. But also sad that it is amazing by todays standards. It should be normal for studios to bring their games like this.

I can't wait for this, played these games all the time as a kid. Going to be a nostalgic collection.

One of the best compilations ever. Will definitely pick it up.

This is a pleasant surprise.

The killer app for me would be Turtles in Time (a game I've only played on emulator in the past), but I'd be interested to see how I fare against the NES one. Unless I played that on emulator in the past too, I was probably around 10 when I last experienced it.

EDIT - I've owned a Gameboy one too - probably 'Fall of the Foot Clan'

How much is that in sterling? £60? £80?

Knowing Konami only one of them will be on the cart and the others are NFTs so only one person can play them at a time by "renting" them for a week at a premium

Fantastic looking collection, definitely tempted!

Even the classic Game Boy games, fantastic.

Cowabunga indeed! Definitely going to get this one! The Co-op of Turtles in Time was so awesome back in the day. I can still remember it fondly. <3

I was close to rebuying Turtles in Time on SNES, I'm not bothering now.

Along with the new Turtles beat em up coming, it's the year of the turtle.

Seeing you went to all the trouble with renewing the TMNT license to put this collection out, could you think about a Suikoden collection that you own the rights to?

I imagine that the SNES version of TMNT IV is not online because there’s too much potential for dropping out and leaving someone dragging an unmanned turtle around. Arcade titles are much better for drop-in/drop-out.

This collection cannot drop soon enough.

I am SOOOOO ready for this!!!!

@Watchman Then why does "Hyperstone Heist" get online play?

day one, I love the nes game that is my childhood in a box, I have 1 & the jap edition of 2 for Gameboy whihc I scored awhile back from the interwebs. i would have been liked to have shredders revenge in the pack just for a complete bundle. hopefully a nice steelbook coms with it.

Turtles tournament fighters (SNES VERSION) has me sold already, one of the most underrated fighters from back in the day

I’ll be massively interested in buying this come release, well, as long as Russia hasn’t murdered us all by then.

Day one for me since it has a physical release and it's not limited. It's worth its price for SNES Turtles in Time alone and the GB games.

Already decided to buy both Switch & PS4 variants. My cousin and I played countless playthroughs of Turtles in Time on the SNES. Now we can attempt the arcade and Hyperstone Heist games together.

@Medic_Alert the original TMNT is the only reason I’d buy this collection instead of waiting for arcade archives to release the arcade games individually. It’s a NES classic to me although I never figured out what to do once I got inside the techno drone

Nice to see, now lets have Gradius, Contra, Castlevania full collections next. From various platforms.

@Rats You don’t jump, you simply walk across the one block gap.

@Axelay71 Also Bomberman too please Konami

This is a dream. 100% day one for me.

Wow!! I love every single TMNT game!! Good news!!!

This is something I've been waiting for a long time, even though I have the original copies, will be happy to have this. Too bad they don't have the 2003 turtle games. Have those on game cube and GBA. Still getting this.

@WaveBoy Your Splatterhouse compilation is on PS3 and it is called "Splatterhouse"

@Sinton Konami_DE already confirmed a physical edition for Germany, so there will probably a release.

Wow, something I never thought would happen, being fantastic games with licensing issues. What a fantastic collection, with the arcade versions to boot! I'll be grabbing this for sure!

Oh Yeah Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection For Switch

But aren’t Konami evil or something? Will get this game day one without a doubt. Physical copy if I can, great news xxxxx

OH YEAH!! 🍕 I hope they’ll have the original music for the Arcade ports. I wanna hear “Pizza Power”

@WesY2K Wow, that's fantastic - thanks for the heads up! 😀

Looks cool, but I'd be happy losing the NES version of Tournament Fighters to make way for the excellent GBA game. Hopefully it's added as DLC later?

I always wanted to play the NES Tourney Fighters. I have the SNES version cart. It’ll be nice to finally play as Casey Jones. I hope he’s playable in Shredder’s Revenge!

Real talk, I might buy physical AND digital for this one.

Day 1 purchase!! I want it now!!!

Most exciting gaming news of the day. This, plus the upcoming Shredder's Revenge makes 2022 a very fun time to be a Turtles fan.

Can we now have a Turbo Grafx-16 collection please.

@Zebetite Why would they be entitled to anything? The original devs would’ve had an employment contract with the original publisher, which would’ve been fulfilled with their pay at the time. The franchise has since changed hands and the new owner is free to do as they wish. Also why should digital eclipse not be entitled to any money for their work?

I'm fortunate enough to have been an impressionable kid when the Turtles mania started, and I've owned and loved a handful of the games in this collection. This news made my day, and I can't wait to play these again on the Switch. Turtle Power!

Given how much TMNT has been handed around over the years, the fact that the TMNT owners, and Nick, could also get together with Konami to throw this amazing package together is nothing short of a miracle.

It's utterly HUGE having not just the Nintendo and Sega stuff in one package, but wow...the unfiltered original amazing arcade games is just perfect.

PC I'll get it, Switch too if physical for portability sake. This is just amazing. Cowabunga!

I genuinely never thought we'd see an official release of the arcade game ever again, but holy crap they really went all out with this collection! Day One, for me

Nice to see people forgiving Konami that easily

Wow! I'll probably pick this up.

Wow! How did I miss this story yesterday? This is a great collection! I'm pre-ordering as soon as I see it.

@Oh_Well @Bass_X0 I was actually talking about the jump right before Mechaturtle in stage 3. Am I the only one that had trouble there? I think I cleared it one time, only to get destroyed by Mechaturtle because I wasn't prepared for a boss fight.

bbbbbBBBBBBUUUUUHHHHHHHHH!??!! WHAT!? INCREDIBLE news. I volunteer one of my kidneys as tribute and then I'll buy.

Grew up playing these games on consoles and at the arcades. Day 1 purchase for me. Cowabunga!

@joey302 Mannnn, what you said! I was literally just thinking the other day, I wanna pick up some of those old TMNT games. This is great, I'll definitely pick it up at some point.

I'm not into TMNT, beat 'em ups, or fighting games, but man, this is one sweet collection.

I haven't played the majority of these. I will most likely get this.

I love Turtles in Time, one of my favourite Games of all Time!

That is also one of the Games that saved Gaming itself for me.

Before i had so many bad C64 Games, including the Turtles Game there, that where so disappointing as a Kid. Even as four Years old i knew what bad Game Design is

The Super Nintendo truly saved my Love for Video Games, especially with Games as these.

Will be an insta Buy for me.

I'm always happy to see when classic licensed games are made available again, especially when the licensing deals complicate things. In this case, it's the Genesis, SNES, and arcade beat-em-ups that stand out for me. The first arcade game especially was such a massive hit and really looked amazing when it came out, like the show come to life. I still think it looks and plays great. The bosses are tough, but they have some exploits that don't kill the fun. I remember everyone seemed to think Krang was super hard, but I managed to stumble upon the proper strategy right away. One interesting thing to note in that first game(probably the second arcade game too) is that the difficulty is dynamic. If you last a while on a life, the game will throw bigger waves of Foot Soldiers at you until you die, then it resets. Konami really wanted those quarters. Still, lots of fun in my opinion.

The article isn't taken down so I guess this truly isn't a dream!

I will really enjoy the TMNT arcade games and the first NES game - a friend and I put many hours into that game back in the 80s and eventually beat it! That and Ninja Gaiden were a couple I'm most proud of having finished. Maybe even at my age now I can try again (with the help of save states and rewind)!

With this and Shredder's Revenge, we're getting like a decade's worth of Turtles games this year!

@Rats Is that the one where if you miss the jump, the water current takes you back to the beginning of that section? I failed that multiple times. I think the trick was to not do a full button press, but to just tap the jump button, but I still failed a few times knowing that.

Just hook it to MY VEINS!!!!

Day. Motha. F**king. One.

@rjc-32 That's some top-tier corporate defending I'm seeing here, especially with the lack of an icon.

@faint Does it even matter if it's Capcom, Sega or a Konami based compilation? What matters is who is actually handling the emulation itself. M2 being the holy moly grail.

The Sega Genesis Classics and first Mega Man legacy collection have broken delayed controls, they're not even worth purchasing. Hopefully this doesn't happen to this TMNT collection as well based on whoever is involved with the emulation.

@Bizzyb Don't underestimate Turtle fans on other consoles. We all grew up on TMNT. I'm sure at least the Playstation version will sell as good as the Switch version. Most of us want the game physically. If they have a collector's edition.....forget about it. It would be sold out.

Day one for me. The Arcade Game, Turtles in Time and The Hyperstone Heist are three of my favorite games of all time. Looking forward to playing Manhattan Project (had moved on to more powerful consoles by the time it released) and the Game Boy games for the first time.

@WaveBoy Someone was hoping that the emulation turns out good. I brought up other Konami collections, proving that they at least hire the right people. You swung in and brought up collections from other companies. Still not sure what your point is.

@faint Do they always? They dont have a perfect track record. If M2 is in fact involved with the emulations, then we can all let out a sigh of relief....Then again, Sega Ages which were tackled by M2 have a noticeable delay. Everything from Alex Kid to Wonder Boy etc feel sluggish. They're not as horrible as some other compilations but they're not quite up to snuff vs what they've achieved with the Contra & Castlevania Anniversary collections.

Cowabunga! I'm getting this! Nice job Konami, TMNT Tournament Fighters Nes alone cost like $200, now I'll finally be able to get it.

Can’t confirm or deny that I smiled like a kid ear-to-ear when this was announced (I was 😀). With this as well as the TMNT game from Dotemu, 2022 is off to a strong showing so far IMO.

if this has online multiplayer, I'm snagging this for sure.

@WaveBoy Every Konami collection released in the last 5 years has been Tip Top across all platforms.

@Rafie I just don't see the point of being stuck on a console, with a disc of all things...for a game like this. If you just want to pop in a quick level or two why be stuck to a TV? I just don't get it, but to each his own

I'm not a huge Turtles fan but TMNT II on the NES brings back a lot of good memories! I played that game with my best friend for months on end.

I would love to have a time travel machine just to travel back to 8 year old me and rub this collection in his face.

I’m so looking forward to this and shredders revenge. I wish they could’ve included reshelled that I had on my 360. We got all the originals which is really what matters but I have no way to play that one anymore and rather liked it.

I’m more excited about this than I am for botw 2

All Konami knows how to do lately is make NFTs and put up some old ports. They were fine games but I'm not buying this. They're all easy to get for nothing, have been for decades, the only reason to buy something like this is to support the company and I don't think there's anything about modern Konami that I want to support.

This collection is equal to or above other great collections with multiple content. (Sonic Mega Collection Plus, Mega Man Collection, Castelvania Collection, etc).

@Nintendo_Thumb In terms of support it can also support the idea of legacy collections.

with the discussions regarding game preservation lately i do feel that it is nice to have older games available to purchase on modern systems for those that would wish to purchase them, especially with the loss of the last remnants of the virtual console in a year or so and its replacement not allowing people to purchase games (with the VC people are still able to play their bought games even after the service goes down, its not perfect but is better than completely losing access)

Gonna have to wait for the reviews, so they don't mess it up.

I hope the SNES sound emulation is better than it is on the Lion King version of Digital Eclipse's Disney classic collection. That has some frequent crackle in the music playback.

@hypercoyote I’m just amazed of this announcement especially being from lazy bones Konami who is another example of all these companies that let their classic IP lay dormant. But this collection is just fabulous for me personally with the Arcade, Snes and Sega Genesis tiles in here! And Physical too!! Can’t ask for more than that!! I’m getting closer and closer to maybe finally unhooking my 360 lol 😂

This makes me extremely happy. I am going to play the shell out of this collection.

This is amazing! So excited.

Now THAT is an amazing announcement! ALL over this!

I want to order it, Amazon hasn't listed it yet.

Is it only aviable at Places that also sell Pizza ?

Several of the titles (particularly some duplicates) included wouldn't be of interest to me, but this is something I'll consider at some point, especially if there's a sale. Of all the games, the one I actually have the most nostalgia for is the third GB game, Radical Rescue. Must've come out in like '93 - I remember playing that when I was 9 or 10 vividly.

Day one, I'm all over this.

@Mgalens old ports are fine, I reject that their new business is focused on NFTs and won't be contributing to them continuing this practice. Far as I'm concerned they could create the greatest games ever (though clearly all they are capable of is putting old roms on some emulators), I still wouldn't buy them. Konami is dead to me, and unless they want to proclaim that they are done with the world destroying NFT swindle, that's the way it's going to stay. I have loads of games to play, I don't need this nonsense.

This collection looks dope…Konami will milk this one all day! That and the new Turtles game from Dotemu should make Turtles fans happy. Wonder if they’ll be any online modes ?

I was just thinking earlier this week that I hadn't played TMNT 2: The Arcade Game in probably 20 years, and this collection gets announced two days later. Instant day one purchase for me, super excited!

I’m going to cry.

I have been waiting for this collection all my life as it literally represents my childhood and teenage gaming years. So many memories fused into one gaming cartridge. They even had the decency to include the Game Boy games too. I’m pretty certain this is every Gen X gamer dream come true!

Looking forward to the nostalgia trip!!

@Alex79uk I missed out on the “good GBA” TMNT game. What was it called?

@Magrane It was just called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

@Alex79uk thank you. There are two games and I wasn’t sure which one you were referring to. There’s a GBA game called just “TMNT” and I think that was the one I heard about being one of the better brawler games.

@Magrane Ah no, you know what, you're right! I forgot there were two. They were both 2D brawlers, but TMNT was definitely the better of the two. It had quite a different graphical style, almost cell shaded sort of.

I wonder if they'll keep the "Prepare for Buttle" typo in TMNT III: Radical Rescue in the collection?

There have been a LOT of collections put out in the past couple years, and a lot of really good ones- but I can’t think of a better one than this. I would’ve been happy with less than half those games.

@Angelic_Lapras_King you mean Konami said: la li lu la lo

Holy mackerel this is awesome. When I was a kid in the 80's and 90's I was diehard obsessed with TMNT so I'll definitely pick this up for nostalgic purposes. I'm sure LRG will do a physical release.

@nyreyn What do the Patriots have to do with this? 😆

Well i was going to get it anyway but that just made me want it even more

Day 1 physical buy for me as well. Along with Shredder’s Revenge. Been a TMNT fan since the beginning. Most of you don’t know about Turtlemania back in the late 80s. Still have all the original toys and games. This collection on Switch is a dream come true.

This is how you do a collection! Day one purchase!

Okay I'm gonna be THAT guy. Why didn't Konami include the two Gameboy Advance games and the DS game?? It could have been the complete collection! Why the strict "only 80s" based collection? It's a good collection , but you might as well have finished it off.

@thinkhector those games were inferior to these, that’s why. 🙂

Actually they’re just marketing to the 80’s nostalgia so it makes sense not to merge both animation series.

Damn, I am so excited for this. But was hoping M2 was doing the work like the Contra / Castlevania collections. Now we must pray there isn't bad input lag.

I was just looking through my gameboy games the other day, and was sad to remember I had traded TMNT 1 and 2 away back in the day. Still have 3. Now I will have them all again.

Super hyped for this. Amazing stuff!!
