Greene County restaurant inspections for Oct. 14 - 20

Food establishments in Greene County are inspected one to three times per year, depending on the type of food served, the population served, the difficulty level of food preparation, and past history.

Issues found during inspections fall into two categories: priority and non-priority. Priority violations are issues that can have a direct impact on the safety of the food and can lead to a restaurant getting shut down if they persist. Non-priority violations are usually centered around things like sanitation or building maintenance.

Here is information from the Springfield-Greene County Health Department regarding restaurant inspections over the past seven days:

Braum's Ice Cream #275, 4125 S. National Ave. 10/19/2021 - Re-Inspection; Result: Active. Priority item corrected. No sign of ants in facility. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0.

Bubba's BBQ, 504 N. West Bypass. 10/19/2021 - Compliance Check 1; Result: . Priority Violations Found: 1. Observed: Bucket being used for moving ice is not made of food grade material. Nonpriority Violations Found: 4. Observed: Lights not shielded above prep table. Observed: Plastic wrap to protect stainless steal shelf when shipping still on the shelf. Plastic wrap needs to be removed. Observed: Only operational kitchen hand sink found without any paper towels. Observed: Second kitchen employee handwashing station found disconnected. 

Casey's General Store #3011, 2805 N. Kansas Expressway. 10/18/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Permitted with Reinspection. Kimberly was person in charge at time of inspection. A reinspection will be made on or after 10-21-2021 to check for compliance. Priority Violations Found: 1. Observed: One open cooler was running 51 degrees F and most potentially hazardous foods in it were 45-50 degrees F. These items were voluntarily discarded by staff. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

Club Rodeo, 2032 W. Bennett St. 10/14/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0.

Coyotes Adobe Café, 1742 S. Glenstone Ave. 10/15/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. Priority Violations Found: 2. Observed dish machine with 25 ppm chlorine. Repairman arrived during inspection. Corrected. Observed bag of lettuce and broccoli on water/condensate in bottom of prep cooler. Both lettuce and broccoli voluntarily discarded. Manager agrees not to store food beneath until repaired. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

D.Q. Grill & Chill, 3665 E Sunshine St. 10/14/2021 - Re-Inspection; Result: Active. Priority item corrected. Air gap provided at 3-compartment sink. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, 2305 N. Glenstone Ave. 10/15/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. Priority Violations Found: 0.  Nonpriority Violations Found: 1. Observed: Fries in the upright freezer not being held in a frozen state. Fries were removed and taken to the walk-in freezer. 

Getaway Golf, 3833 E. State Highway D . 10/14/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. Kiara Pilkinton was the person in charge. Not selling any PHF's at this time. Priority Violations Found: 0.  Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

Hardee's, 2260 N. Glenstone Ave. 10/14/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. No violations observed at the time of inspection. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

Jersey Mike's Subs, 1903 S. Glenstone Ave. 10/18/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0.

Kum & Go #1467, 2963 E. Division St. 10/18/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. Priority Violations Found: 1. Hot dogs, buttermilk ranch bites and tornadoes (7 total) on grill at 106 - 120 F. All items voluntarily discarded. Manager showed me that control was turned way down. Corrected. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0.

Kum & Go #497, 3049 Highway 60 East Republic. 10/15/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. No violations. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

Kum & Go #561, 3445 E. Kearney St. 10/15/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Permitted with Reinspection. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 2. Observed rodent droppings on floor along wall near ice machine. Contact pest control and eliminate harborage conditions such as the leaking ice machine and drain in soda machine hall. Observed water on floor beneath ice machine and around drain in soda box hall. Plumbing should be in good repair, water attracts pests. 

Logan Elementary Cafeteria, 7297 E. Farm Road 164 Rogersville. 10/14/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

Mama Jean's, Swig Coffee Bar & Deli. 10/19/2021 - Re-Inspection; Result: Active. Priority item corrected. All foods held below 41F. Priority Violations Found: 0.  Nonpriority Violations Found: 0.

McAlister's, 2300 N Airport Blvd. 10/18/2021 - Re-Inspection; Result: Active. Priority items corrected. Cold held items holding below 41F. No rodent droppings observed, manager had pest control out to help address the issue. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

McDonald's 19907, 3250 E. Chestnut Expy. 10/14/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. No violations observed at the time of inspection. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

Naomi's Cafe, 104 W. Jackson St. Willard. 10/19/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Permitted with Reinspection. Lauri was person in charge at time of inspection. Facility had an electrical fire the night before and had unplugged some equipment and left facility. These were still unplugged when I arrived. Facility had not yet opened this morning. They voluntarily discarded potentially hazardous foods from these two refrigerators as well as the one that was running 51 degrees F. A reinspection will be made on 10-21-2021 or later to check for compliance. Priority Violations Found: 3. Observed: Two refrigerators had been left unplugged overnight due to an electrical fire and one refrigerator was running 51 degrees. There were several potentially hazardous food items that were out of temperature and had to be discarded. Observed: One pan of ribs had been left on counter overnight when leaving facility due to an electrical fire. These were 67 degrees F and voluntarily discarded. Observed: The potato dicer was not clean. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

Panera Bread, 2535 N. Kansas Expressway. 10/18/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. Jordan was person in charge at time of inspection. The one violation was corrected prior to exit by placing a roll of paper towels near dispenser that had a low battery. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 1. Observed: One paper towel dispenser had a low battery, so no paper towels available at one hand sink. Promptly corrected by placing a roll of paper towels by hand sink.

Plaza Mexico, 4249 W. Chestnut Expy. 10/15/2021 - Re-Inspection; Result: Active. Edgar was person in charge at time of reinspection. All violations, except one had been corrected. Someone had picked up the incorrect door sweep and it has to be returned and the correct one purchased and installed. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 1. Observed: There is a gap under outside door that can allow entrance of pests. They had purchased the wrong door sweep, which has to returned and correct one obtained and installed.

Price Cutter #20 Deli/Salad Bar, 335 N Nolting Ave. 10/14/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. Bradley was person in charge at time of inspection. The glazed BBQ chicken was missing an ingredient label, but the vast majority of items were labeled properly. Priority Violations Found: 1. Observed: There were 4 packages of outdated lunchmeats (10/11-13). These were promptly discarded by staff. Nonpriority Violations Found: 5. Observed: The back hand sink was blocked by a mop bucket and it was not clean. Observed: Out of paper towels at back hand sink. Manager went and got regular paper towels off of store shelf to make some available. Observed: The floor in walk-in freezer was not clean. Observed: There were a few boxes of disposable cups being stored directly on kitchen floor. Observed: The door has been missing off of cabinet by deli for several months.

Price Cutter Plus #50 Cold Deli, 3260 E. Battlefield Road. 10/18/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 1. Observed: Hot/ cold deli walk-in cooler vents and lights found not clean. 

Price Cutter Plus #50 Seafood/Meat, 3260 E. Battlefield Road. 10/18/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: . Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 3. Observed: No lights. Observed: Heavy ice accumulation on the shelves, floor and door frame of the walk-in freezer. Observed: Hand washing sink for employees found shut off due to leak. 

Price Cutter Plus #51 Deli, 4228 S. National Ave. 10/18/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Permitted with Reinspection. Priority Violations Found: 1. Observed several PHFs being stored above 41F on the salad bar.  Items were discarded and a reinspection will be performed. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

Residence Inn, 1303 E. Kingsley St. 10/14/2021 - Re-Inspection; Result: Active. At the time of reinspection, the dish machine was properly heat sanitizing. Priority Violations Found: 0.  Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

Sam's Southern Eatery, 1631 N. Glenstone Ave. 10/14/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Permitted with Reinspection. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

Sam's Southern Eatery, 1631 N Glenstone Ave. 10/15/2021 - Re-Inspection; Result: Active. At the time of the reinspection, the following issues had been corrected: 1) Make table had been serviced and was properly cold holding. 2) No live roaches observed. Establishment contracted pest control company to service location. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0.

Skybox Grille & Lounge, 1271 E. Montclair St. 10/18/2021 - Re-Inspection; Result: Active. Priority item corrected. All foods held at proper temperatures and proper air gap provided at dish machine. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

Sushi Kabar In Price Cutter, 3260 E. Battlefield Road. 10/18/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 1. Observed: Hand washing sink by prep area for employees found shut off due to leak.

Waffle House #1431, 436 N. West Bypass. 10/19/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. Priority Violations Found: 0.  Nonpriority Violations Found: 1. Observed: Ceiling vents and tiles around the vents found not clean.

Walmart Supercenter #444 Deli, 3315 S. Campbell Ave. 10/19/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. No violations observed at the time of inspection. Priority Violations Found: 0. Nonpriority Violations Found: 0. 

Wendy's #06, 1272 E. Battlefield Road. 10/19/2021 - Routine Inspection; Result: Active. Priority Violations Found: 1. Observed lettuce and tomatoes on make cold hold tables 43-55 F. Corrected by placing on time control. This location has used time control in the past on both make tables.  Nonpriority Violations Found: 1. Observed heavy grease build up on vent hood filters and hood frame above fryers.
